Procurement Manager – Multi-Category
West Midlands
Hybrid: 3 days in the office / 2 days working from home
Up to £60,000 + £6,000 car allowance + 5% matched pension + benefits
Permanent
The Opportunity
We’re supporting a large, well-established multi-site business with the appointment of a Procurement Manager within its procurement team.
You’ll own a broad portfolio across a range of categories, typically worth £30m-£100m in spend. The business is open on whether your background is in direct or indirect procurement.
This role is the Head of Procurement’s second in command. You’ll support them across the function, manage a Buyer of your own and, at times, help lead the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver category strategies that achieve savings, quality and service targets.
- Own the annual category budget and reforecast against it monthly.
- Track market pricing against contracted positions to manage risk.
- Build and manage senior-level supplier relationships, setting and holding performance targets.
- Line manage and develop a Buyer, and support the Head of Procurement in leading the wider team.
- Deliver cross-category and cross-functional projects with senior stakeholders across the business.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll have proven end-to-end procurement experience, including category strategy, negotiation and supplier management.
Category and industry background are open, direct or indirect, and you don’t need to come from any particular sector. What matters most is adaptability, the ability to juggle several priorities, and building excellent supplier relationships. This is a busy, varied environment rather than one where everything is already in its place.
People management experience is an advantage, but they’re open to someone ready for their first direct report.
Why Join?
This is a chance to step into a deputy role in a large procurement function, with spend and supplier relationships at real scale.
You’ll develop your own Buyer and help shape how the team operates, in a business with a strong record of promoting its people.
The package is up to £60,000 plus a £6,000 car allowance, a 5% matched pension and benefits, with hybrid working.
