Job Location: Cambridgeshire
Category: Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain

A well-established, logistics and supply chain business is seeking an experienced Head of Transport to lead and develop its transport operation during an exciting period of continued growth.

Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will take full strategic and operational responsibility for the company’s transport function, leading the transport, planning and driving teams to deliver exceptional customer service, operational excellence and full regulatory compliance.

You will shape the transport strategy, drive operational performance, improve fleet utilisation, control transport costs and embed a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement across the operation. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure the transport function remains efficient, commercially focused and fully compliant while supporting the wider business as it continues to grow.

As a visible leader, you will take ownership of Operator Licence compliance, driver hours legislation and transport best practice while using data and KPIs to drive performance, improve planning efficiencies, strengthen driver engagement and deliver operational improvements. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a successful family-owned business where you will have the autonomy to influence business strategy and make a lasting impact across the organisation.

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in a senior transport leadership role within a fast-paced logistics, distribution or supply chain environment.
  • International CPC qualification (Essential), with experience holding or supporting Operator Licence responsibilities.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a demonstrable track record of cost control, operational improvement and transport optimisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of DVSA legislation, Operator Licence compliance, driver hours regulations and transport best practice.
  • Experience leading transport planning functions, improving fleet utilisation and reducing operational inefficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of transport KPIs with the ability to use data to drive performance and continuous improvement.
  • A confident, authentic leader who builds trust, develops high-performing teams and fosters a culture of accountability and respect.
