Salary: £90,000 – £95,000

We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to take overall responsibility for a large, fast-moving operation within the fresh produce/food manufacturing sector.

This is a genuine site leadership role. You’ll bring Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Technical and support functions together, making sure the site operates safely, efficiently and profitably.

You’ll lead a team of senior managers, set clear standards, improve performance and make sure the business delivers for its customers.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead and develop the senior management team across the site.
  • Take overall ownership of site performance, KPIs and business targets.
  • Improve productivity, efficiency and profitability.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure customer demand is delivered.
  • Coordinate production planning, labour, raw materials, storage and transport.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement and deliver measurable cost and productivity gains.
  • Oversee Engineering, maintenance and major capital investment projects.
  • Ensure high standards of Health & Safety across the operation.
  • Work closely with Technical and Quality teams to maintain customer and legal standards.
  • Oversee Supply Chain, storage, logistics and despatch performance.
  • Own budgets, labour control and operational cost improvement.
  • Use data and KPIs to identify problems and drive action.
  • Work with the Managing Director and Board on longer-term business strategy.
  • Lead major change and improvement projects across the site.

What we’re looking for:

  • Senior General Management, Site Management or Operations Management experience.
  • Background in fresh produce, food manufacturing, FMCG, agriculture, horticulture or another complex, time-critical operation.
  • Experience leading multiple functions rather than just one department.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.
  • Proven experience improving productivity, efficiency and operational performance.
  • Experience managing and developing senior managers.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, Quality and customer requirements.
  • Comfortable with budgets, KPIs, CAPEX and business improvement.
  • A visible, practical and hands-on leadership style.
  • Strong communicator who can influence people at all levels.

The opportunity

This is a role for someone who wants real ownership and influence.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape how the site operates, develop the management team, improve performance and make a genuine commercial impact.

If you’re currently an experienced Site Manager, Operations Director, Operations Manager, Head of Operations or General Manager and are ready for a role with broader responsibility, we’d like to hear from you.
